Enclosed is a memorandum and information on the Fall 1997 Elementary and Secondary School Civil Rights Compliance Report from the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR). In July 1997, an advance notice was mailed to all school divisions required to complete the Compliance Report. The Compliance Report is required by federal regulations pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The due date for returning the Compliance Report has been extended to March 30, 1998, to allow sufficient time to complete the report.
