FROM: | James E. Laws, Jr., Executive to the State Board of Education |
SUBJECT: | The PSAT/NMSQT Summary of Answers |
Superintendents Memoranda No. 62 and No. 187 reference the Department of Education's interest in increasing students' participation in the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The Department decided to support this initiative by purchasing the Summary of Answers, a detailed analysis of students' performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. Attached is the Summary of Answers for each school division testing twenty- five or more students. The contents include an analysis for the school division and for each individual school. Two training workshops have been planned for school divisions that are unfamiliar with the use of the Summary of Answers. On April 14, a workshop will be held at the James Monroe State Office Building, Conference Room E, 101 North 14th Street, Richmond. On April 29, a workshop will be held at James Madison University, Taylor Hall, Room 306. Each training session will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be conducted by staff members of The College Board. Additional registration information will be sent to each school division about the workshops. Should you have any questions about the Summary of Answers or the upcoming workshops, you may contact me at (804) 225-2540. JELjr/mfm Enclosure: A hard copy of this memo and its enclosure will be sent to the superintendent's office.
