SUBJECT: | Technical Assistance Teleconference on SOL Training Initiative Application |
The Department of Education will conduct an interactive teleconference, via satellite, on the Standards of Learning Training Initiative, June 30, 1998, 1:00-2:30 p.m. The purpose of this teleconference is to provide interested school division staff with technical assistance in completing the application, which is due by July 31, 1998. The first hour of the program will be devoted to a step-by-step walk through of the application by Department of Education staff. The final half-hour of the broadcast will include a discussion of resources that could be useful in planning and implementing SOL professional development programs. Phone-in questions on a toll-free line (800-648-0397) will be accepted during the program for presentation and discussion during this half-hour segment. This satellite teleconference will be broadcast out of the Virginia Satellite Education Network's (VSEN) studio at Varina High School in Henrico County. All Virginia high schools are equipped to receive this satellite broadcast. To receive the broadcast, you will need to set your receiver to satellite GE 2, Channel 1. GE 2 is located at 85 degrees west; Channel 1 has a downlink of 3720 MHz. If you are unable to participate in this live, interactive teleconference on June 30, you may wish to videotape the program for delayed viewing.
