SUBJECT: Annual Fire Inspections and Code Updates

  
  The Department of Education, in cooperation with the State
  Fire Marshal's Office, broadcast a training program on May
  21, 1998, over the DOE Hour, called "Fire Safety Inspections
  in Schools."  The program explained the new regulations
  requiring annual fire inspections and provided additional 
  information on specific issues that will be reviewed by your
  fire inspector.  If you missed the program and would like to
  receive a copy of the tape, please see your media specialist
  who knows how to order a copy, or you may contact Robert
  Traylor, Instructional Center Technician, at (804) 225-2980
  in the Department of Education.  There is a $2 charge for
  public schools.

  The State Fire Marshal's Office will be providing "Annual
  Code Updates for 1998" this summer in regional workshops.
  Attendees should call and register with their regional state
  fire marshal for one of the following programs:
