August 21, 1998 |
TO: | Division Superintendents |
FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
SUBJECT: | Information Technology Strategic Plan |
The Department of Education has contracted with KPMG Peat Marwick LLP to develop a long-range information technology strategic plan for the administrative software systems of the department and public school divisions. The goals of this initiative include assessment of the existing and desired information technology environments and development of a strategic direction to guide our future efforts. As part of this study, KPMG will solicit feedback from division superintendents, principals, and teachers through the eight superintendents' regional study groups. Additionally, KPMG will distribute surveys to division technology personnel to determine the current technology environment and information needs in each school division. Should you be contacted by Ms. Alison Otis, Mr. Peter Koumalats, Mr. David Feild, or Mr. Steven Guttentag, I urge your full cooperation. Your contributions to this initiative will help ensure the development and implementation of a successful plan for using technology to improve the education of Virginia's children. Questions or requests for additional information should be directed to Mr. Jerry Mathews, 804-225-2950, or jmathews@pen.k12.va.us. PDS/mm
