| SUBJECT: | Tuition Certification for Academic Year Governor's Schools |
The 1999 General Assembly included language in the Appropriation Act that stated, "Out of the amounts for Governor's School Payments, the Board of Education shall provide assistance for the state share of the incremental cost of regular school year Governor's Schools, summer Residential Governor's Schools, and Foreign Language Academies to be based on the greater of the composite index or fifty percent. Participating school divisions must certify that no tuition is assessed students for participation in this program." (Item 141, Chapter 9354, 1999 Acts of the Assembly) Attachment A is a form which you must complete providing data which will assist us in answering requests from the General Assembly and interested persons regarding tuition for participation in an Academic Year Governor's School Program. Please return the enclosed form to Barbara McGonagill at the Virginia Department of Education, P. O. Box 2120, Secondary Instruction, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120 by September 20, 1999.
