TO: | Division Superintendents |
FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
SUBJECT: | Virginia State Assessment Program Administration Audit Information |
The 1999 General Assembly authorized a feasibility study to determine the need and support for a student leadership Summer Residential Governor's School at Jepson School for Leadership, University of Richmond. The Virginia Department of Education has contracted with Jeffrey Schultz to serve as the coordinator and researcher for the study. Recently, Mr. Schultz mailed superintendents a survey that asks several questions to determine the level of need and support the divisions would have for such a program. The survey will provide the committee, consisting of representatives from gifted education, secondary principals, higher education, and the public, with vital information for the study. The committee's report and recommendations will be presented to the Virginia Board of Education in the fall. We appreciate your cooperation in responding to the survey. If you have questions about this study, please contact Barbara McGonagill, Secondary Instruction, (804) 225-2884 or via e-mail at bmcgonag@pen.k12.va.us. PDS/bkm
