SUPTS. MEMO. NO. 220
December 10, 1999 |
TO: | Division Superintendents |
FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton Superintendent of Public Instruction |
SUBJECT: | School Nutrition Programs Claim |
The School Nutrition Program (SNP) local electronic claims software and the Department of Education's claim processing systems have been tested and are Y2K compliant. In the event there are any problems caused by Year 2000, the School Nutrition Programs has developed a SNP Claim Contingency Plan so that your school division can continue to request and receive federal meal program reimbursements. All problems related to Y2K must be reported as outlined in Superintendents Memo No. 219, dated December 10, 1999, "Year 2000 Event Reporting." It is recommended that your school division be prepared prior to the schools closing for the winter break to be able to implement the attached SNP Claim Contingency Plan, in case there are any Y2K problems. Your school nutrition programs should be prepared to operate daily meal programs without the use of computerized cash registers or point of service systems. A checklist and a detailed contingency plan and the appropriate forms are enclosed. If you have any questions, please contact the School Nutrition Program Specialist assigned to your division or Catherine Digilio Grimes, director, School Nutrition Programs at (804) 225-2074. PDS/idl Enclosures: A hard copy of this memo and its attachment will be sent to the superintendent's office.
