SUPTS. MEMO. NO. 96
May 5, 2000 |
TO: | Division Superintendents |
FROM: | JoLynne DeMary Acting Superintendent of Public Instruction |
SUBJECT: | Adjustment for Tuition Payment to the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind for Fiscal Year 2000 |
Each year, state basic aid payments are adjusted for students enrolled at one of the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. If you have a student from your school division enrolled at one of these schools, the appropriation act requires that the Department of Education adjust your state basic aid payment to capture the local share of the basic aid per pupil amount. These funds are then transferred to the schools to offset the cost of educating those students. Attachment A reflects the basic aid adjustment for the tuition payment to the Hampton and Staunton schools. This adjustment is based on the December 1, 1999, child count for each school. Your basic aid entitlement will be adjusted to reflect the amounts indicated for your division. If you have any questions concerning the above, please contact Mrs. June Eanes, budget director, at (804) 225-2025. JLD:je Attachment /administrators/superintendents_memos/2000/inf096a.pdf
