SUBJECT: | Special Education Complaint Appeal Procedures |
At its meeting on February 15, 2001, the Board of Education approved procedures for special education complaint appeals. The Board’s action responds to a requirement in the Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia, January 2001, at 8 VAC 20-80-78 G. This provision provides parties to the complaint with the right to appeal the complaint findings to the Virginia Department of Education within 30 calendar days of the issuance of the decision, in accordance with procedures established by the Board.
Attached is a copy of the special education complaint appeal procedures. Copies are also being disseminated to the special education administrators and Parent Resource Centers.
