Standards of Learning, Curriculum Framework, Crosswalk, and Sample Scope and
Sequence |
I am pleased to inform you that the revised
Mathematics Standards of Learning and Curriculum Framework approved by the
Board of Education are available in Word and pdf format on the Department of
Educations website. Printed copies of the Standards of Learning were mailed
to each school in April and one printed copy of the Mathematics Curriculum
Framework will be sent to each school division in late May.
In order to assist school divisions in realigning
existing curriculum to the revised Standards of Learning, a crosswalk document
between the 2001 and the 1995 Standards of Learning was created. Also, the
Mathematics sample scope and sequences have been revised to reflect the revised
Standards of Learning. All documents can be found at http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/sol.html.
In addition, a CD/ROM containing all of the
mathematics documents in both Word and pdf format is being prepared for
distribution in late May. Each school in the commonwealth will receive a copy
of the CD/ROM.
It is anticipated that the new Mathematics
Curriculum Framework will be used this summer in the development of field test
items for the spring 2003 assessment. The assessment given in spring 2004
should be completely aligned with the new Standards of Learning.
If you need additional information about the
Mathematics Standards of Learning or any of the supporting documents, please
