Indoor Air
Quality Workshops |
The Virginia
Department of Health received a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) to provide training to school personnel on indoor air quality and how to
use the EPAs Tools for Schools self-help kit. The Department of Education has joined with the Medical College
of Virginia and the American Lung Association of Virginia to provide this
training at four locations throughout the state. These four workshops will be held between June 18, 2002, and June
27, 2002, at the locations listed on the attached registration form.
The Tools
for Schools kit will be provided to personnel in each school division who
attend the training session and it will be used as the workbook for the
training. The workshop is directed at
the technicians in each school division who are in charge of the maintenance of
the HVAC systems and the administrator who will carry out the program. There is no limit on the number of
individuals who may attend from each school division, but there are a limited
number of spaces at each site that will be filled on a first-come, first-serve
basis. There is no charge for school
division personnel to attend this workshop, but individuals attending must
register to reserve a place as well as a box lunch. Since there is a cost to the hosting agencies associated with
registration, we ask that the Department of Health be notified or a substitute
be selected if the original participant cannot attend the workshop. We do not want any spaces to go unused. Private schools are welcome to participate.
The attached
course description and registration form should be completed and returned to
the Virginia Department of Health as quickly as possible. If you have questions on the program, please
call Hunter Barnes or A. K. Vijay Ramnarain, architectural consultants,
Support Services at (804) 225-2035.
