Federal Program Applications for Phase I Submission under P. L. 107-110, No Child Left Behind Act of 2001

This is the official notice for submission of the Phase I application for certain federal program funds included in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. School division personnel received earlier guidance during the No Child Left Behind Academies held in May 2002 and other follow-up technical assistance opportunities. School divisions may submit their Phase I applications between June 14 July 1, 2002. Divisions that submit their applications closer to the June 14, 2002 date will greatly improve their chances of approval by July 1, 2002.

Included are the Consolidated Local Application and the following individual applications; Title I, Part A, Improving Basic Programs; Title I, Part C, Migrant Education; Title I, Part D, Neglected or Delinquent; Title II, Part A, Teacher and Principal Quality; Title II, Part D, Technology; Title III, Part A, Limited English Proficiency; Title IV, Part A, Safe and Drug-Free Schools; Title V, Part A, Innovative Programs; and Title VI, Part B, Subpart 2, Rural Education. Copies of all the applications will be available on the Office of Compensatory Programs web page http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/comp.html

through the Virginia Department of Education web site. Do not submit an individual application for a program that will be included in the Consolidated Local Application.

Phase I individual applications for 2002-2003 should be submitted to the appropriate director for each applicable program in the Virginia Department of Education, P. O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120.

Phase I consolidated applications for 2002-2003 should be submitted to George H. Irby, director, Office of Compensatory Programs, Virginia Department of Education,
