Public Hearing on the Proposed Regulations
Governing the Determination of Critical Teacher Shortage Areas |
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on
the proposed Regulations Governing the Determination of Critical Teacher
Shortage Areas on September 26, 2002, beginning immediately after the boards
regularly scheduled meeting. The public hearing will be held in Senate Room B,
General Assembly Building, Ninth and Broad Streets, Richmond, Virginia.
Comments should be limited to three minutes, and
speakers are requested to bring written copies of their comments. The proposed
regulations are included in Attachment A. Written public comments will be
accepted until November 1, 2002, and should be sent to Dr. Thomas A. Elliott,
assistant superintendent, Division of Teacher Education and Licensure, P. O.
Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120 or mailto:telliott@mail.vak12ed.edu.
As part
of its responsibilities for promulgating new regulations or revisions to existing
regulations, the Board of Education is required to develop a Statement of
Administrative Impact and Projected Costs of Implementation. The Board and the
Department of Education are required to send a copy of the statement to each
division superintendent[Section 22.1-17 of the Code of Virginia]. Please refer to Attachment B.
