Regulation 8
VAC 20-131-80.B of the Standards of Accreditation requires that "Schools
shall maintain, in a manner prescribed by the Board (of Education), an early
skills and knowledge achievement record in reading and math for each student in
grades K-3 to monitor student progress and to promote student achievement in
the third grade SOL tests. This record
shall be included with a student's records if the student transfers to a new
school."
In the spring
of 1999, the Virginia Department of Education developed two sample K-3
Mathematics Standards of Learning Achievement Records. These sample records
were created as models for school divisions to use in developing their own
achievement records.
The two
sample K-3 Mathematics Achievement Records have been revised to correlate with
the 2001 Mathematics Standards of Learning. Copies of these updated versions
are available in Word and pdf format on the Forms Web page listed under
Instruction at http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Forms/.
