The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to provide teachers and school divisions
with the Thinking Rationally About Fractions, Decimals, and Percent Instructional
Activities packet. This packet supports the 2001 Mathematics Standards of
Learning and provides instructional activities correlated to the number sense
and computation and estimation strands of grades 4 through 8 Mathematics
Standards of Learning.
The purpose
of the Instructional Activities packet is to enhance elementary and
middle school teachers' content knowledge, and use of appropriate instructional
strategies for teaching the fractions, decimals, and percent concepts.
