SUBJECT:	2004 Virginia Pupil Transportation Conference, June 20-23, 2004

The 2004 Virginia Pupil Transportation Conference sponsored by the Virginia Association of Pupil Transportation (VAPT) and supported by the Department of Education (DOE) will be held at the Sheraton West Richmond, June 20-23, 2004.

Information regarding the details of the conference will be sent to the transportation director in your school division. Registration is scheduled for Sunday beginning at noon. VAPT is sponsoring a ROAD-E-O for drivers on Monday afternoon.

The conference will include sessions for transportation personnel on topics such as understanding and interpreting the Fair Labor Standards Act, investigating crashes, and dealing with gangs. Off-site technical maintenance training will be held for technicians and mechanics. Exhibitors will be present to discuss their products with drivers, technicians, and directors.

A special invitation is extended to division superintendents and other school personnel involved with or interested in pupil transportation. Registration information will be contained in the package that will be sent to your transportation director and also posted on the VAPT Web site at: http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Finance/VAPT/.
