Attached are
the 2004-2005 Title III, Part A, federal allocations for school divisions that
qualify based on the fall 2003 enrollment of limited English proficient (LEP)
students and/or immigrant and youth students.
The total
amount of the allocation is available to school divisions as of July 1, 2004,
through the reimbursement process.
School divisions that receive less than $10,000 through the LEP grant
award allocation must apply in consortium with one or more school divisions to
be eligible to receive the award. This
limitation does not apply for the immigrant and youth award.
Grant award
letters will be issued to school divisions upon the receipt of approvable
applications by the Virginia Department of Education. The procedures and forms for submitting a consolidated or
individual application are available on the Department of Educations ESL Web
page at: http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Instruction/ESL/#nclb. School divisions that have not submitted
applications should do so immediately.
