The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to announce the unveiling of Virginias
Electronic Job Bank and Hiring Hall, a statewide recruitment initiative, which
will take place 1 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Greater Richmond
Convention Center. The job bank and
hiring hall is one of the Governors Education for a Lifetime initiatives. Human resource directors, college and
university teacher education program officials, and representatives from
professional organizations, will participate in the unveiling.
Virginias
Electronic Job Bank and Hiring Hall, designed by Teachers-Teachers.com in
collaboration with the Department of Education, will be a component of the new
comprehensive Teach Virginia Recruitment Center that will feature services for
licensed educators, career switchers, recent college graduates, and high school
students planning a teaching career. The statewide advanced recruitment center
is designed to help school divisions meet and continue the hiring of highly
qualified teachers by July 1, 2006. This service will enable school divisions
to:
Post
vacancies and hire candidates in a variety of teaching and related services
areas;
Search
resumes and screen candidates utilizing a variety of different filters;
Receive cover
letters from candidates by e-mail; and
Forward
resumes electronically to other administrators.
The effective date of the current contract for the
statewide job bank and hiring hall is February 1, 2005, through January 31,
2007. During this period, services will
be available to all school divisions without charge.
