SUBJECT: |
School Division Centers and Regional Centers/Programs: Discipline, Crime, and Violence Data Reporting Training Meetings |
The purpose of this memo is to provide notice
to school divisions that the Department of Education will conduct regional
meetings addressing the reporting of discipline, crime, and violence data for
incidents occurring in school division centers and regional
centers/programs. The objective of the
meetings will be to provide information on the reporting requirements and the
data reporting process for these incidents primarily for staff from school
division centers and regional centers/programs. A school division staff member
and a representative of a regional center/program should attend as a team.
Data being submitted for the Discipline,
Crime, and Violence Report will meet the reporting requirements for the
following:
Data for all incidents will be sent from
school division centers and regional centers/programs to the local school
divisions responsible for students placed at these centers/programs. The data
will be reported by school divisions with their annual discipline data
submission. If a school division operates its own center for its own students,
and data for incidents occurring at these centers is already included in the
divisions annual report, no additional data is required to be reported.
Data reported on incidents occurring in
school division centers and regional centers/programs will not be used in
determining persistently dangerous status for students enrollment
schools. Also, school division centers
and regional centers/programs are not considered schools for purposes of
determining persistently dangerous status. Data concerning incidents that
occurred at centers/programs will not be included in the totals for the
enrolled division.
