Using
Algeblocks, a Professional Development Tool for Middle and High School
Teachers |
The Virginia
Department of Education is pleased to provide a professional development tool
for middle and high school teachers of mathematics. Using Algeblocks is now available online in
streaming video format at http://www.vdoe.whro.org/A_Blocks05/index.html. As described in Informational
Superintendents Memorandum Number 195, dated October 13, 2000, Modeling
Algebra for Student Success Initiative, sets of Algeblocks were distributed
statewide to all middle and high schools.
Using Algeblocks, supports that initiative by providing online
training to teachers who either need an introduction to the use of Algeblocks
or need to reacquaint themselves with the manipulative.
In addition
to the streaming video format, one DVD of Using Algeblocks will be mailed to
each division on or before October 28, 2005.
Divisions have permission to make as many copies of the DVD as needed.
