During
2006, the Virginia Department of Education worked closely with Glencoe/McGraw-Hill
to develop the Virginia Online Geometry Tutorial, an additional resource for
the Commonwealths Project Graduation initiative. The tutorial was designed to determine student
academic needs through an online assessment and to tailor Web-based lessons to
meet those needs. Beginning in December
2006, the Department provided the Virginia Online Geometry Tutorial at no
charge to students in public schools in grades 9 through 12 who had passed
Geometry but had failed the Geometry
Standards of Learning assessment.
The Virginia Department of
Education is no longer able to continue funding the Virginia Online Geometry
Tutorial. However, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill
will permit school divisions to purchase accounts for students at a cost of $20
per student. For more information on PassKey Geometry or to place an order, please contact Steve
Westbury by telephone at (800) 529-0148 or by e-mail at econsulting101@cox.net, or log on to www.vapasskey.com.
For
more information, please contact Deborah Bliss, mathematics coordinator, Office
of Middle and High School Instruction, by e-mail at Deborah.Bliss@doe.virginia.gov,
or by telephone at (804) 786-6418.
