SUBJECT: |
2008 School Health Profiles Data Collection |
This
memo is to announce the data collection period for the 2008 School Health Profiles.
The School Health Profile is conducted biennially as part of the Virginia
Department of Education's (VDOE) cooperative agreement with the Division of
Adolescent and School Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). For 2008, 376 schools,
representing 116 school divisions, have been randomly selected to receive the
survey.
The
School Health Profiles questionnaire
will be used to obtain accurate data on current school health education
activities. This will help the VDOE, the
Virginia Department of Health, and other state agencies and organizations
develop or revise programs to improve the delivery of school health services to
students. The data will help in planning staff development activities,
allocating program resources, and providing a basis for future funding
requests.
Participation
in the study is voluntary. A copy of the
survey is attached. The original survey
will be mailed to the selected schools and is to be completed and returned to
VDOE by February 22, 2008. Schools not
returning the survey will be contacted by the Comprehensive School Health
Specialist for follow-up.
If there are questions concerning this survey, please contact Caroline Fuller, comprehensive school health specialist, at (804) 225-2431 or caroline.fuller@doe.virginia.gov.
