Adult Education (GAE) Application for 2008-2009 |
The
Virginia Department of Education will make state funds available for the
reimbursement of expenditures made by school divisions for local General Adult
Education (GAE) programs in fiscal year 2009. Reimbursement will be based on
the total amount of requested GAE funding for 2008-2009 and the total available
state funds.
Classes
eligible for reimbursement in fiscal year 2009 include adult high school
classes for credit, General Educational Development Test preparation classes, adult
basic education classes, and adult English for speakers of other languages classes.
These state funds may not be used for noncredit career and technical education
programs.
Localities that have
entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the establishment of a
regional adult education program must apply for FY 2008-2009 GAE funding
through the regional program's fiscal agent as identified in the MOU. Any
application submitted independent of the regional fiscal agent will not be
reviewed or considered for funding.
Each grantee will be required to
complete the Virginia GAE Student Data
Survey. This survey form can be downloaded by
accessing the Office of Adult Education and Literacy (OAEL) website at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/instruction/adulted/index.shtml
after August 1, 2008.
The
GAE application materials and required forms are located on the OAEL website
at http://www.doe.virginia.gov/instruction/adulted/resources/grants_and_funding.shtml. The application materials (one original set
only) must be received by the Office of Adult Education and Literacy no later than 4:30 p.m.,EDT, May 23, 2008. Faxed or e-mailed copies will not be
accepted, including all document revisions.
Applications not meeting the delivery deadline may not be
considered. School divisions and
regional programs will be notified of funding awards after receipt and approval
of program applications. If no program is planned, write on the face of the
application form your school division's name and code, as well as the words NO
PROGRAM IS PLANNED.
