Governor's Latino Summit
|
The Virginia Latino Advisory Board was
established by the Code of Virginia (2.2-2460)
to recognize the
importance of the contributions of Latinos in Virginia, to advise and inform the Governor
on issues facing Latino constituents, and to advocate for Latino interests. This fall, the Virginia Latino Advisory Board
will host the 2008 Governor's Latino Summit on Friday, September 19, 2008, from
9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at John Tyler Community College
in Chester, Virginia. The Summit will highlight initiatives and
resources at the state level for service providers that work directly with the
Latino community in the areas of education, health, economic development, and
public safety.
There is no charge for attendance, but
registration is required. Lunch will
cost $10.00, which is payable in cash only at the door, and a networking reception
will follow the Summit.
An agenda for the Summit is available at http://www.vlab.virginia.gov/. Interested participants may register online
at https://www.cmpinc.net/latinosummit.
For additional information, please contact Sindy Benavides, Latino liaison, Office of the Governor, at (804)
