SUBJECT:	Alignment of the Health Smart Virginia website with the 2008 Health Education Standards of Learning

 

The Virginia Departments of Health and Education, in partnership with Prince William County Schools, are pleased to announce that Health Smart Virginia has been revised to provide teachers with instructional resources that align with the 2008 Health Education Standards of Learning. Health Smart Virginia, http://www.healthsmartva.org, supports the development of instructional strategies for teaching the Health Education Standards of Learning, and serves as a guide for instructional planning through sample lesson plans and instructional links to resources that address nutrition, physical health, mental health, injury and violence prevention, disease prevention, and many other health topics to help students achieve and maintain good health for a lifetime.

 

The Virginia Department of Health is providing a free Health Smart Virginia Teacher t-shirt as an incentive for educators who complete an online survey and provide feedback on the website.
