Commemoration
of George Washington's Birthday |
In recognition of the
contributions of George Washington to the formation of our nation and
constitution, the 2007 General Assembly passed House Bill 2837. The bill asks that the Department of Education make available to local school
divisions information regarding the commemoration of George Washington's
birthday on or around February 22 in the public schools. The text of House Bill 2837 may be

George
Washington, the "Father of His Country," was born on February 22,
1732. Since 1971, his birthday has been
incorporated into President's Day, celebrated nationally on the third Monday in
