Federal
Regulations (7CFR 210.17) require states to appropriate a minimum level of
state funds to be paid as reimbursement to school divisions that participate in
the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
The required minimum funding level for
The per meal
lunch reimbursement rate is calculated by dividing the funding level by the
total number of lunches served in the previous school year. The per meal reimbursement rate for lunches
served in the 2007-2008 school year is $0.047172. Attached is a chart that details the NSLP
state reimbursement payment for each school division. Each division's reimbursement amount in
fiscal year 2009 is equal to the 2007-2008 reimbursement rate multiplied by the
number of lunch meals served in the 2007-2008 school year.
The state
lunch reimbursement will be paid by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) on
October 31, 2008. These funds must be
credited to the school nutrition account and will be identified on the EDI
notice as School Lunch State Match revenue source code 240215.
Questions may be directed to the school nutrition program specialist assigned to your division or Catherine D. Grimes, director of school nutrition programs, at (804) 225-2074.
