COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA
Department of Education
February 13, 2009
TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
This communication is to inform you of revisions to the 2008-2009 Title I, Part A, and Title I, Part D, Subpart 2, allocations that were released through a Superintendent’s Memorandum, Informational Number 196, dated August 22, 2008. The 2008-2009 funding allocations for Title I, Part A, and Title I, Part D, Subpart 2, were affected due to substantial downward changes in the state per pupil expenditure data. The U.S. Department of Education (USED) has revised its allocations as mandated by the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
Attachment A contains a spreadsheet that shows the revised allocation. The funding allocation increased for 116 school divisions and the Hampton School for the Deaf, Blind, and Multi-Disabled which will be distributed to the combined Staunton School for the Deaf and Blind due to the adjustment. For those school divisions whose allocation increased (highlighted on the attachment), an amendment to the 2008-2009 application and budget transfer must be submitted through the OMEGA system. If you need technical support with this process, please e-mail OMEGA.Support@doe.virginia.gov or call (804) 371-0993.
If you have questions, please contact Mr. Brian Logwood, budget director, at 804-225-2025 or by e-mail at Brian.Logwood@doe.virginia.gov.
