SUBJECT: Technical Assistance Academy for Coordinators of Title I, Part A; Title II, Part A; Title II, Part D; and Title III, Part A

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce a professional development academy on July 21 and 22, 2009, for coordinators in the following areas:

The focus of the first day of the academy will be to provide general information to all coordinators as well as specific information for funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The focus of the second day of the academy is designed for coordinators with up to two years of experience as an administrator for one or more of the federal programs referenced above. Coordinators may choose to register for one or both days of the academy. A draft agenda is attached.

The academy will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Koger South Center in Richmond, Virginia. Registration will be held 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on July 21. On July 21, the sessions will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude at 4:15 p.m. On July 22, the sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:15 p.m. Space is limited to 250 and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech will manage the registration. Please register online at The deadline for registration for the academy is July 1, 2009. Breaks and lunch on July 22 will be provided. Lodging, if required, will be master-billed. Mileage and meals not covered on the master bill may be charged to the respective local federal program, in accordance with state travel guidelines. If lodging is required, a reservation must be made directly with the hotel.
