TO: Division Superintendents
FROM: Patricia I. Wright, Superintendent of Public Instruction
The Virginia Educational Facility Planners (VEFP) conference will be held at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center in Roanoke, Virginia, on February 21 and 22, 2011. This two-day interactive workshop on educational facilities and planning is being coordinated by the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI & SU) Division of Continuing Education. A brochure describing the conference is contained in Attachment A.
The conference registration is $230 for public sector employees and includes most meals. This year, VEFP is offering at least five $500 scholarships to school division personnel to help them attend the conference. The criteria and application for this scholarship is available on the VEFP Web site at http://www.vefp.org/.
The conference will include an exhibit of recently completed school projects, as well as school construction projects in progress in Virginia. A jury will judge the completed projects and awards will be presented to the architects and winning schools.
Keynote and major session speakers will present information on a number of critical educational facilities issues. There will also be breakout sessions on various subjects of interest to facilities and maintenance personnel. I encourage you or representatives from your division to attend this informative conference.
Please register directly with VPI & SU for the conference and/or lodging or you can register online at www.VEFP.org. For questions regarding the program, please call Vijay Ramnarain, Office of Support Services, at (804) 225-2035, or e-mail
