SUBJECT:  Discontinuation of Tuition Assistance for Early Childhood Special Educators and Teachers of Special Education Employed with a Virginia Public School Division

Effective immediately, the Virginia Department of Education, Office of Teacher Education, must discontinue new awards of tuition assistance for early childhood special educators and teachers of special education employed by Virginia public school divisions. Due to federal sequestration cuts, special education program allocations to Virginia (under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) for 2013-2014 have been significantly reduced, and funding will not be available to support these programs.
