The Virginia Department of Education, Office of Special Education Instructional Services, is committed to providing resources and technical assistance to educators, parents, and others who provide direct services to children. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is pleased to announce that a guidance document, Guidelines for Conducting Functional Behavioral Assessment and Developing Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports/Strategies,is now available.
These Guidelines are designed to be a resource for service providers as they address the educational and behavioral needs of all children. This document should be used in conjunction with the Virginia Department of Education Regulations Governing Special Education Programs for Children with Disabilities in Virginia as well as other VDOE guidance documents.
