SUBJECT: Board of Education Approved a Passing Score for the Praxis Algebra I (5162) Test for the Mathematics – Algebra I (Add-on) Endorsement
On February 23, 2017, the Virginia Board of Education approved the use of the Educational Testing Service Praxis Algebra I (5162) test as an option to add the Mathematics – Algebra I (add-on) endorsement to a teaching license in accordance with the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel and set the following passing score for the test. This test cannot be used as an assessment for initial licensure; the test may only be used to add the Mathematics – Algebra I (add-on) endorsement as specified below.

Taking the Praxis Algebra I (5162) test to add the Algebra I (add-on) endorsement only applies to individuals who hold an active (1) Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License or (2) Provisional License leading to a Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License if the testing requirement for the initial endorsement has been met. You may refer to the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel for detailed information on adding an endorsement by testing.
