Emergency Medical Technician Educational Program Revised Guidelines
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Health, will conduct an update for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Educational Program Guidelines for high school instructors on Monday, July 17, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Great Wolf Lodge, Williamsburg, Virginia. Participants will be provided an in-depth overview of Mental Health First Aid and the Revised High School Based Emergency Medical Technician Educational Program Guidelines. The guidelines-This is a PDF document. (PDF) were developed jointly with the Office of Emergency Medical Services to unify state and national standards, establish consistent EMT program standards, to ensure high-quality programs are implemented in high schools and technical centers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
There is no registration fee for this update; however, preregistration is required and must be completed by June 9, 2017. Seats are limited and will be assigned upon receipt of the registration.
The VDOE will sponsor the facilitator and instructional materials. Participants are responsible for all meals, travel-related expenses, and lodging, if needed. This is an allowable expenditure of federal Perkins funds if included in the approved local career and technical education plan.
