Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted
In 1982, the Virginia Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted was formally established by the Virginia Board of Education to provide guidance to the Board and the Superintendent of Public Instruction about the educational needs of students identified as gifted in school divisions. The committee is composed of representatives from school divisions, professional organizations, institutions of higher education, Governor's Schools, business and industry, and parent groups.
The committee meets four times during the school year. Meetings are typically held in October, December, February and April. Members begin their term of office in August of the appoint year and end in July of the third year.
All meetings are open to the public and the agenda and minutes are available below. Persons wishing to address the group during the public comment time are welcome to register with Donna Poland. Speakers representing formal groups are welcome to speak for five minutes; others are provided three minutes to address the committee.
