Declaration of Support for the Amendment to Virginia’s Consolidated State Application for the Purpose of Applying for Fiscal Year 2000 Title I School Improvement Funding

WHEREAS, the Amendment to Virginia’s Consolidated State Application for the purpose of applying for Fiscal Year 2000 Title I School Improvement Funding (from the $134 Million FY 2000 Appropriation for School Improvement) allows the Virginia Board of Education to award supplemental funds to individual schools to support their school reform efforts toward the fulfillment of the Standards of Learning and the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Board of Education has directed the Virginia Department of Education to prepare for submission an application for the aforementioned funds; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Education has developed the Amendment to Virginia’s Consolidated State Application for review and approval by the Virginia Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Board of Education, after review and approval, will direct the Virginia Department of Education to submit the Amendment to Virginia’s Consolidated State Application to the U.S. Department of Education;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Virginia Board of Education, upon approval of the Amendment to Virginia’s Consolidated State Application by the U.S. Department of Education, will notify qualifying local school divisions of the opportunity to receive funds to support individual school reform efforts that are targeted toward the fulfillment of the Standards of Learning and the Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia.
