Language & Culture in Specific Contexts
In the second set of videos, Dr. Charity-Hudley helps educators recognize linguistic variation in speech and writing. These videos feature specific examples on how language variation impacts reading achievement based on research funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and State Council of Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV).
Specific examples of linguistically and culturally responsive teaching with a focus on literacy and assessment are provided. The elementary videos focus on the acquisition of literacy in content areas. The secondary videos focus on literacy that will ensure college and career readiness.
