The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is seeking school divisions, nonprofits, local government agencies, faith-based organizations, colleges, universities and for-profit corporations to apply for 21st Century Community Learning Center grants. The competitive grant program, authorized by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, supports community-based programs that provide tutoring, enrichment and counseling during non-school hours, especially for low-income students and students who attend low-performing schools.
VDOE will award up to 30 grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 a year for three years to serve elementary, middle or high school students.
Technical assistance workshops will be held on March 5 in Richmond and March 9 in Roanoke. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on April 10. Additional application process information is available on the VDOE website.
