2025 Determination Letters on Local Implementation of IDEA
Overview
The Virginia Department of Education Department of Special Education and Specialized Populations released local determinations on implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B for Federal Fiscal Year 2023. The VDOE made the determinations using both compliance and results data, giving each equal weight in making the determinations. The IDEA details four categories for local determinations as listed below.
- Meets the requirements and purposes of IDEA.
- Needs assistance in implementing the requirements of IDEA.
- Needs intervention in implementing the requirements of IDEA.
- Needs substantial intervention in implementing the requirements of IDEA.
