High-Quality Tutoring Programs

To ensure schools and divisions have access to high-quality and vetted tutoring programs, VDOE has developed the High-Quality Tutoring Programs Application Process. This process outlines criteria and expectations used in the review of tutoring programs at the state and division levels.

Textbooks & Instructional Materials

The alignment of textbooks and instructional materials with the state's academic standards provides a foundation for student success. VDOE – with the assistance of experienced classroom teachers and other educators – reviews textbooks and instructional materials for alignment with the Standards of Learning (SOL) and makes recommendations to the Board of Education on state adoption.

Individual Student Alternative Education Plan (ISAEP)

The Individual Student Alternative Education Plan (ISAEP) program is designed for those students who are at least 16 years of age and enrolled in high school programs who are having difficulty finding success in a regular classroom environment.

Library & Media Services

A library media center is an essential component in supporting each school's instructional program. The library media center provides a variety of learning and teaching resources supporting academic standards, information literacy skills and general interest topics for students

Environmental Literacy

Environmental Literacy is having the knowledge, skills and dispositions to solve problems and resolve issues individually and collectively that sustain ecological, economic and social stability.
