Applications and course submissions for the 2025-2026 school year has closed. The review period, approval and denial process will be from February 3, 2025 – May 2, 2025. MOP will be notified through electronic transmission during this process.

Computer Science
The 2024 Computer Science Standards of Learning must be fully implemented by the 2025-2026 school year.History and Social Science
The 2023 History and Social Science Standards of Learning for must be fully implemented by the 2025-2026 school year.Science
2018 standards are staying in effect for grades K-physics. The expanded Science Standards of Learning are anticipated to go to the Board in 2025. Standards will be added to the eleven science courses listed:

- Biology II: Genetics (03059)
- Biology II: Ecology (03063)
- Chemistry II (03102)
- Earth Science II: Advanced Survey in Earth Science Topics (03008)

- Earth Science II: Geology (03002)
- Earth Science II: Oceanography (03005)
- Environmental Science (03003)
- Physics II (03152)
General Information
A provider seeking initial approval to become a MOP must submit a complete application by the date and time listed in the "News & Announcements" section. Incomplete applications will not be considered. A written decision regarding the approval or denial of the application will be provided within 45 business days of the close of the application period. Local school boards in Virginia may enter into contracts with approved MOP to offer approved courses coupled with virtual instructors.
Application
Please submit the application and required documents via the virtualprograms@doe.virginia.gov mailbox by the due date referenced in the "News & Announcements" section.
Course Submission
New applicants and currently approved MOP may submit new or revised courses for approval during the application window.
SOL course submissions must include a correlation report from a third-party correlation service that verifies Virginia SOL correlation at a minimum level of 90% on the course’s upper-level strands. An upper-level strand is met through a minimum of 90% correlation of its related objectives, concepts, and skills. Career and Technical (CTE) Courses: Submissions must include a CTE Competency Alignment form indicating a 90% or higher correlation on all Upper-level strands and related objectives, concepts, and skills including Workplace Readiness Skills. Please see this sample Template for CTE Workplace Readiness Competency Alignment. The curriculum area at the CTE Resource Center can be helpful with this process.
Virginia Elective Courses: Elective courses require an aligned SCED code and are locally approved by school divisions. Please see Superintendents Memo #058-21 for additional guidance and processes. Elective course submissions do not require a correlation report.
Virginia Advanced Placement (AP) Courses: AP courses approved by the College Board require an aligned SCED code and are locally approved by school divisions. AP course submissions do not require a correlation report.
Please complete the Qualtrics Surveys below to submit new or revised courses. Required SOL third-party correlation documents and CTE Competency Alignment forms should be emailed to virtualprograms@doe.virginia.gov and adhere to the following guidelines:

Email attachment requirement- Multiple SOL and CTE documents should be compressed separately prior to being emailed.
