Advancing Computer Science Education Grant Request for Proposals 

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the Advancing Computer Science Education (ACSE) FY26 Request for Proposals (RFP). This competitive grant opportunity supports the implementation of the 2024 Computer Science Standards of Learning and provides funding to develop high-quality instructional resources, professional development, student experiences, and access to advanced learning opportunities.    

The 2024 Appropriation Act has allocated $1.35 million to support this initiative. All Virginia public school divisions, full-time regional public schools, and programs with a local or regional school board are eligible to submit proposals meeting the intent of Advancing Computer Science Education Grant Request for Proposal.    

 Funding is available across four project types per availability of funds:   

  • Professional Learning & Instructional Resources (up to $75,000 per award)
  • Student Experiences & Engagement Programs (up to $75,000 per award) 
  • Strategic Expansion and Sustainability (up to $75,000 per award)  

*Regional partnerships/consortiums are strongly encouraged and may submit a proposal for one of the three project types above. Regional partnerships/consortiums may be awarded up to $125,000 per award)   

  • Advanced Placement Computer Science Opportunities & Student Success (up to $50,000 depending on number of schools within the grant application)   

*Previous Advanced Placement Computer Science microgrant recipients are not eligible for the FY26 award cycle.
