Advancing Computer Science Education Grant (FY27) Request for Proposals
The Department of Education is pleased to announce the release of the Advancing Computer Science Education (ACSE) FY27 Request for Proposals (RFP). This competitive grant opportunity supports the implementation of the 2024 Computer Science Standards of Learning and provides funding to develop high-quality instructional resources, curriculum, and assessments; deliver professional development for current and future teachers; support summer and after-school computer science programming; and facilitate career exposure and work-based learning opportunities for high school students. Consistent with the grant's legislative intent, funded projects should prioritize at-risk students and schools.
The 2026 Appropriation Act has allocated $1.35 million to support this initiative. All Virginia public school divisions, full-time regional public schools, and programs with a local or regional school board are eligible to submit proposals meeting the intent of Advancing Computer Science Education Grant Request for Proposal.
Funding is available across three project types per availability of funds:
- Professional Learning, Implementation, and Evidence of Learning (up to $75,000 per award),
- Student Engagement and Experimental Learning (up to $75,000 per award), and
- Expansion of Computer Science Advanced Learning Opportunities (up to $50,000 per award).
*Regional partnerships/consortiums are strongly encouraged and may submit a proposal for one of the three project types above. Regional partnerships/consortiums may be awarded up to $125,000 per award)
ACSE request for proposals must be submitted in pdf format no later than August 25, 2026, to vdoe.computerscience@doe.virginia.gov. The subject line of the email must state “ACSE FY27 RFP (School Division)”
A pre-proposal webinar was held July 28, 2026. The ACSE FY27 pre-proposal slide deck is now available, providing an overview of the information shared during the webinar. Two dedicated office hours will be held to address additional questions. Office hours are intended to provide an opportunity for applicants to ask clarifying questions related to the grant requirements and submission process. Pre-registration is required: July 30, 2026 (9:00 am – 10:00 am) or August 3, 2026 (1:00 pm – 2:00 pm).
